Springtime Lamb & mint by Lunaandme: Pet Food Review

Image
Lunaandme  produces raw pet food and pet treats for both dogs and cats. Out of their range of meals I chose Springtime Lamb & mint patties .  Let's delve into its features to see if the product is really safe and actually worth your investment Springtime Lamb & mint patty is meant for adult cats. It is by appearance a patty, a not-so-common form of pet food that I have personally come across Ingredient list: Tender lamb steak, liver, heart and kidney, lamb bone, salmon oil, wheat germ oil, taurine, nutritional yeast, spirulina, chia seeds, bilberry, mint and kelp The patty is made of wholesome ingredients and is designed to be fed raw. This makes the food more nutritious than any processed food I love the addition of a variety of wholesome ingredients from uncommon herbs such as mint and bilberry and their oils to ingredients such as salmon oil as well as the addition of taurine. Good job!  I have independently analyzed the nutrients and I realize tha...

Veterinary Medicine is an Art more than a Science

Image
I purposely chose veterinary medicine over human medicine to study at local university (University of Peradeniya). Only a few choose it that way here in LK It's my (almost) 7th year in practice and each year my love for the art of practicing medicine has grown. Reading a blood test report takes me even longer now as, the more I know science, the more time it takes to carefully interpret and I'm still learning My loyal clients tell me that they love my approach to patients Thinking back, I have been able to help many pets with different types of chronic diseases in the most safe way without any medicine or sometimes with minimal use of medicine. It has been self rewarding too. To maintain pets' privacy I choose not to share recovery posts of pets on social media (unless shared by the pet owner itself) but here are some of such conditions that I have been able to help my veterinary patients with, through non medical or minimal medical approaches 1. Acute diarr...

Make it a Pet-Safe Easter

Image
Only one week left for Easter and let's make this Easter a pet-safe one 1. Avoid lighting fire crackers The dawn of a festive season or a festival day could be celebrated in a more quiet manner rather than by lighting fire crackers. Pets are sensitive, as you know, and among them there are certain pets that go into a shock with the high frequency sounds 2. Avoid feeding oily food in large quantities   Acute Pancreatitis is known to be a disease of festivals. Consuming a high fatty meal can lead to acute pancreatitis in both dogs and cats. Pancreatitis is a deadly disease that affects the pancreas. These food could be anything from oily meat to even oily sweets. The most common meat products are pork and pork derived products such as bacon, lamb, mutton and beef fat (tallow) that contain high amounts of fat 3. Be cautious when giving sweetened drinks and food  Xylitol is a common sweeter in human food products, that is toxic to dogs and cats and can end up with sy...
