Veterinary Medicine is an Art more than a Science
I purposely chose veterinary medicine over human medicine to study at local university (University of Peradeniya). Only a few choose it that way here in LK
It's my (almost) 7th year in practice and each year my love for the art of practicing medicine has grown. Reading a blood test report takes me even longer now as, the more I know science, the more time it takes to carefully interpret and I'm still learning
My loyal clients tell me that they love my approach to patients
Thinking back, I have been able to help many pets with different types of chronic diseases in the most safe way without any medicine or sometimes with minimal use of medicine. It has been self rewarding too. To maintain pets' privacy I choose not to share recovery posts of pets on social media (unless shared by the pet owner itself) but here are some of such conditions that I have been able to help my veterinary patients with, through non medical or minimal medical approaches
1. Acute diarrhea, acute vomiting by indigestion
2. Chronic hemorrhagic colitis (rectal bleeding)
3. Chronic unresolved diarrhea, vomiting of unknown cause - IBD, IBS etc
4. Chronic otitis (ear infections)
5. Hip dysplasia (minor to moderate grade)
6. Cranial cruciate ligament rupture (minor grade)
7. IVDD (inter vertebral disc disease)
8. Chronic skin disorders; either unresolved or recurring
9. Chronic obesity
10. Recurrent urinary blocks in cats (by cystitis)
11. Chronic unresolved seizures
12. Chronic head shaking
13. Recurrent urinary bladder calculi
14. Supportive therapy for major organ diseases - kidney, heart, liver
15. Chronic regurgitation
16. Multiple fractures in puppies and kittens
17. Complete cure or supportive therapy for hormonal diseases - diabetes, adrenal gland disease
18. Recurrent anal gland diseases
19. Certain types of vestibular diseases
I combine diagnostic tests, ultrasound scans etc to keep monitoring the patient when required
Depending on the urgency of the patient I decide if medication is required or not
Sometimes it's not a quick fix (sometimes it is) but the journey to recovery is of zero side effects and is zero invasive or with minimal side effects if medication is used
If you have a pet or know a pet who is suffering from any unresolved disease, and is willing to spend some time committed to the healing process, email me at petlabsconsultancy@gmail.com for a consultation
