New Product Idea

A puppy does not need mother's milk after day 1 but what about on day 1? Opening doors in product development related to vet med and biomedical streams

💡Colostrum is only present for 12 to 24 hours in dam's milk. Thereafter, colostrum starts decreasing for upto 48 hours

Colostrum is not 100% replaceable so far although commercial puppy milk replacers are available

After day 1, a puppy can be put on a commercial puppy milk replacer until weaned off but a puppy's gut closes absorbing anti bodies after 24 hours of birth

🔴The problem here is, what iif the mother dies before 24 hours of giving birth?

While we have many commercial puppy milk replacers in the market, upto now none of it can be a 100% replecer of a dam's first mik. The whole main idea should be to develop a product that can be given as a total replecer to dam's first milk

This opens doors to several innovative products and technologies

✅ Extraction of species specific antibodies for better absorption

✅ Using catalysts for better absorption of immunoglobulin anitbodies and nutrients in milk replacers during the first 24 hours

✅ Rapid tests to detect maternal disease transmission possibilities (this applies when foster or donor dam is used to support the puppy) - this may need to have the ability to test multiple diseases at once such as canine parvo, distemper, herpes virus 1, brucellosis, mastitis causing pathogens and worms

🔴 Vet administered serum or plasma medication is not always feasible, I guess? Let me know if you have better thoughts on this

Developing a product is not just about mixing and matching but a process that can solve a real life problem
