Milk for good?

Milk is the least essential food ingredient that could be given to dogs. I'm referring to cow's milk in this context

As a practicing vet and veterinary nutritionist, I come across a lot of cases of gastroduodenitis in dogs and the pets are put on life long medicine with PPIs. Long term use of PPIs such as omeprazole can reduce the absorption of vitamin D and calcium ultimately leading to conditions such as osteoarthritis. The chronic prevalence of gastroduodenitis can also change the microbiota of the gut thus, reducing the absorption of essential nutrients.

It's absurd but how about a small dietary adjustment that can make your pet feel better long term?

True that milk contains proteins, calcium, iron and other minerals but is highly inflammatory. If your dog tends to skip meals, try removing liquid milk from his daily diet. Notice how things improve.

A puppy needs her own Dam's milk only on day 1 of birth. This is non negotiable (unless the dam passes off when giving birth). Hereafter, until weaned off, the puppy could be kept on a milk replacer (as mentioned in one of my previous posts). Right after weaning, milk is the least essential food. Instead, keep them on high protein diets that contain high quality ingredients
